Work With Alee

Learn yoga beyond the poses.

Yoga can be physical, philosophical, reflective, challenging, quiet, structured, playful, and deeply personal.

Yoga Mentorship is for people who want more than a stream of random classes. It is a place to understand what you are practicing, why you are practicing it, and how yoga can become something you actually know how to use.

You might be completely new to yoga. You might already practice and want to understand alignment, sequencing, breath, or philosophy more deeply. You might be returning after time away and need a practice that meets your body where it is now.

There is no requirement to be flexible or experienced before you begin.

What we can explore

  • Asana and physical practice
  • Foundational alignment and body awareness
  • Anatomy as it relates to movement
  • Breathing practices and pranayama
  • Meditation and concentration
  • Yoga philosophy
  • The Eight Limbs of Yoga
  • The Yamas and Niyamas
  • Props, modifications, and accessibility
  • Building a home practice
  • Creating shorter practices for busy days
  • Understanding how your practice can change over time

This is not about creating the perfect yoga routine

A personal practice should be able to change with you.

Some seasons may include a strong physical practice. Others may ask for more rest, breath, meditation, study, or a few intentional movements instead of an hour on the mat.

The goal is not to make your life fit yoga. The goal is to understand yoga well enough that the practice can meet your life.

Yoga philosophy belongs here too

The physical practice may be what first brings many people to yoga, but it is only one part of a much larger tradition.

Mentorship can include the philosophical side of yoga in clear, everyday language: how ideas such as ahimsa, satya, aparigraha, self-study, concentration, meditation, and discipline can be considered both on and off the mat.

This is not about asking you to adopt a belief system. It is about learning the framework, understanding its context, and deciding how the teachings speak to your own practice.

  • Someone building or rebuilding a home yoga practice
  • A person interested in yoga philosophy as well as movement
  • Someone who wants individualized attention around alignment, props, or practice structure
  • A busy person who wants realistic ways to practice consistently
  • A current practitioner who wants to deepen their understanding

How sessions work

Sessions are personalized around what you are working on. One session may focus heavily on movement and alignment; another may involve breath, philosophy, meditation, or building a practice plan.

Virtual yoga mentorship is available broadly. Select in-person sessions may be available in Indianapolis, Columbus, and Cleveland depending on schedule.

Questions about this page

What is yoga mentorship?

Yoga mentorship is personalized support for building a yoga practice with more understanding and intention. Instead of only following a class, we can work with movement, alignment, breath, anatomy, philosophy, meditation, and the questions that come up as your practice develops.

Is yoga mentorship the same as a private yoga class?

Not exactly. A private class may focus mainly on practicing together in the moment. Mentorship can include practice, but it also gives us room to teach, discuss, troubleshoot, study philosophy, and build something you can continue on your own.

Do I need to be flexible to start yoga?

No. Flexibility is not a requirement for yoga. Your practice can be adapted to your current body, mobility, experience, and goals.

Can we focus on yoga philosophy and not just poses?

Yes. Yoga mentorship can include the Eight Limbs, the Yamas and Niyamas, foundational texts, meditation, breath practices, self-study, and how yoga philosophy can be explored in everyday life.

Can you help me build a home yoga practice?

Yes. One of the goals of mentorship can be creating a realistic personal practice you understand well enough to use independently, whether that means a short daily sequence, a few dependable practices, or a more structured routine.

What if I am completely new to yoga?

That is a great place to begin. We can slow the process down, explain terminology, build confidence with foundational movements, and make sure you understand why you are doing what you are doing.

Can sessions be virtual?

Yes. Yoga mentorship is designed to work virtually. I can teach, observe movement, offer verbal cues, discuss philosophy, and help you build a personal practice through video sessions.

Do I need special yoga equipment?

No. We can usually begin with a safe space to move and whatever you already have. Props can be recommended if they would make your practice more comfortable or accessible.

Will you give me a set yoga plan?

We can build structure, but the goal is not to hand you a rigid routine that ignores real life. Your plan can change as your body, schedule, interests, and understanding change.

Is yoga mentorship appropriate if I have an injury?

It depends on the injury and what you have been cleared to do. Yoga mentorship is not rehabilitation or physical therapy. I can adapt movement within my scope, and I may ask you to get guidance from a licensed healthcare professional when needed.
